除尘脱硫塔的原理为在主抽风机出口烟道至主烟囱间增设烟气脱硫装置，通常一台烧结机配一套脱硫装置（根据需要也可以两台烧结机共用一套脱硫装置）。脱硫入口烟气接自烧结机主抽风机房外出口烟道，经过脱硫后，净烟气返回主烟囱排放，整个除尘脱硫塔装置与主抽风机后烟气排放系统并联配置，原烟道作为旁路系统。气喷旋冲脱硫除尘装置有浆液贮段、进气段、脱硫段、脱水除雾段组成，其中脱硫段由气喷旋冲暴气管组件组成，烟气经进口烟道进入进气段，进气段的出气端接气喷旋冲暴气管组件，气喷旋冲暴气管组件底部插入浆液贮段反应池中，烟气在经进气段进入气喷旋冲暴气管组件中，继以射流鼓泡方式冲入浆液贮罐中，烟气中的二氧化硫与石灰石浆液接触反应，进一步吸收、氧化，生成石膏，净化后的烟气经过脱水除雾段由烟囱排放出去。
