不管是何种脱硫工艺，都会产生固体颗粒物，所以选泵需要考虑磨蚀性，泵轴密封需要耐颗粒。一般脱硫泵的衬里材质推荐使用超高分子量聚乙烯，其不仅耐常见介质的腐蚀，耐磨性能更是不锈钢的9倍左右，耐温100℃。对于泵轴密封，脱硫循环泵小型泵推荐使用K型动力密封，大型泵选用Z型自平衡密封（含固量较少）或双端面集装式机械密封（含固量较多），zui高含固量不超过40%。
